Endowment Fund
Contact: Henry Woodward (he/him), Endowment Fund Trustee
The Endowment Fund holds investments that are managed for the long-term benefit of UUCR rather than for daily operations. Significant gifts to the Endowment Fund in most cases can result in substantial income tax savings (consult your financial advisor).
Four trustees, elected by the congregation at its annual meeting, manage the fund in conformity with the bylaws of the church and the 2008 Virginia Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act. Assets are reported quarterly to the Board and to the congregation at its annual meeting. The fiduciary duty of the trustees ensures that the fund is managed responsibly. Annually the trustees determine the amount of fund earnings that may be made available to the Board in support of our UU principles and church.
Church members and friends donate to the Endowment Fund in a variety of ways. Some contribute periodically; others contribute through their estates; and others make special contributions in someone’s honor.
Donations may be made in the form of checks or cash; securities; Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs); employer retirement accounts (e.g., 401k, 403b, or 457 plans; property (e.g., real estate, art objects, or other material items of value); or by naming UUCR as beneficiary of wills or life insurance policies. And thank you!
