Interdependence is one of UU’s six shared values, centered in love, that form the foundation of Unitarian Universalist faith. We honor the interdependent web of all existence and acknowledge our place in it – especially when it comes to sustainability, climate change, and environmental justice.
The UUCR Green Team works to advance these goals in a number of ways:
- Climate & Clean Energy Rallies: Typically held after worship service on the last Sunday of every month, Green Team members and allies gather on the corner of Grandin Rd. and Brandon Ave., by the church’s main parking lot, from 12:15 pm – 1:15 pm. Bring your own sign or hold up one we provide. The rallies also serve as the team’s monthly meeting.
- Serving as the church’s go-to expert with regard to establishing “green” practices at all levels of church life, from recycling and composting to avoiding the use of single-use plastics.
- Representing UUCR as a partner in the Virginia Conservation Network, which works to coordinate organizations across the Commonwealth toward greater environmental protection.
