Sunday service begins at 11:00 am. Most people arrive by 10:45 am to greet each other and find seats in the sanctuary. Learn more about Visiting UUCR, including location and accessibility information.

  • First-time visitors: please come a little earlier so we may welcome you, provide a name tag, orient you to the sanctuary and, if appropriate, to the children’s services.
  • All Sunday services are also livestreamed on our YouTube page

Coffee Hour

After the service everyone is invited to enjoy beverages, snacks, and each other’s company in the Fellowship Hall. Visitors welcome!

Religious Education

While we seek a new Religious Education director, our RE program is in a time of transition. We strive to offer nursery care each Sunday. We hope to reestablish regular children’s religious education in the latter half of 2026. In the meantime, if you have questions, please contact our minister, the Rev. Jen Raffensperger (revjen@uuroanoke.org).

On Sundays:

  • Adults: From 9:30 am – 10:45 am (September-May), all adults are welcome to participate in UUCR’s Living the Questions book discussion group in the Olin room.
  • Nursery: We strive to offer nursery care for infants and toddlers during the 11:00-12:00 worship service on every Sunday of the month. On those days, our nursery is supervised by experienced caregivers who have undergone background checks. At other times, the unstaffed nursery is available for families to take a break with their littles during the service, as needed.
  • Children & Youth Religious Education: As mentioned above, we are grateful for your patience during this time of transition. Upon our hire of the new RE director, we hope to restart our children’s RE in the latter half of 2026. If you have questions, please contact our minister, Rev. Jen Raffensperger (revjen@uuroanoke.org).

Location and Accessibility

Roanoke, VA 24015

Entrances

We are located on the corner of Grandin Rd. SW and Brandon Ave. SW, directly across from Patrick Henry High School and the Raleigh Court branch of the Roanoke County Library System.

There are two entrances:

  • The main entrance, with steps and a handicap ramp, faces Grandin Rd.
  • At the back of the church, a single-level entrance (no stairs) is accessible from the main parking lot. You may pull your car up to that door to drop off passengers. No parking is allowed in this alley.

Parking

Parking, including handicap space, is located in our main lot. Overflow parking is available in the grassy area directly across the street from the church. Please leave the alley along the fence accessible. In addition, Patrick Henry High School has graciously allowed us to park in the section of their lot closest to Grandin Road when school is not in session. Please be careful crossing the street.
