ByLaws Information Session

Our New Bylaws Vote Is Coming!

What new Bylaws? What’s being changed? Find out at one of the information sessions after the Sunday services on February 3 and February 24, from 12 to 1. UUCR Board members will be there to give you a rundown on the 2019 proposal for changes to our Bylaws, and to hear your questions and concerns.

Or you can read a short clear summary of what’s being proposed at uuroanoke.org. Just click on “About” and choose “Our Governance” from the drop-down menu. Then click on “Summary of Proposed Changes Jan 2019”.

Some changes are aimed at smoother functioning, and at fixing mismatches between the current Bylaws and our Policy Manual or UUCR’s informal practices. Others work to catch up with some best-practice recommendations from our national group, UUA.

Want more? On the same website page, you can also find the current Bylaws, the Proposed New Bylaws 2019, and a careful Bylaws Change Comparison Document, which indicates with strikeouts and colored font what goes and what’s new, if the proposed versions passes.

We at UUCR have been talking and thinking and wondering and revising our revisions for a couple years now. On Sunday, March 17 we’ll meet for a formal vote on the 2019 proposal for a changed version of our Bylaws. Do show up: your vote matters. If you can’t make it, proxy forms will be available that day and on preceding Sundays.

The proxies are easy to fill out, so don’t let this slip your mind. We need them to make sure we have a quorum, so we can have a vote that officially expresses the membership’s will—and besides, we want your voice to be represented!

As always, your Board members stand ready to hear your views and questions on this or any other matter, any ol’ time.

3 Minute Faith Statement – Wow! with RevAlex

December 4 & 18 – 7:00-8:15 p.m. – “3 Minute Faith Statement – Wow!” with RevAlex
Come, Come on one of two Tuesday evenings in December to play with RevAlex around how you might give voice to your faith. The three minute parameter comes from the academic practice, currently in vogue, of doing a “3 Minute Thesis Presentation.” We’ll do similarly about what believe. We’re also likely to laugh, think and deepen in spirit. We’re certain to enjoy one another’s company and good holiday refreshments.
