Middle School Youth Group (Olin) and Parent Potluck (Sanctuary)
For this first meeting the kids will have pizza and games from 6:30 to 8:30 in the Olin Room. The sanctuary is booked for parents to potluck and chat. In future months MSYG may continue meeting on first Saturdays. We have a menu of possible kids activities and local trips. We hope to encourage and support middle schoolers in social engagement and connection that builds through their transition into high school and YRUU. We will be looking for two adults each month to lead activities.
The second Concert Across America to end gun violence will occur at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke on September 23rd at 3:00pm. It will feature members of the Hollins University Talmadge Singers, Roanoke Children’s Theatre, the Southwest Virginia Ballet, the Roanoke Symphony, and Community High School in Roanoke and others. Please join us in remembering lives that have been lost, and celebrating a call to action.
Join us if you like to sing. Contact Alan Moore with any questions. email@example.com
The Roanoke Community Sing is a meeting in the UU fellowship hall this Sunday, August 19th. They sing every 3rd Sunday of the month and welcome everyone who feels called to sing, no matter their age or experience with singing. They use a round robin where each person has a chance to lead or request a song for the group to sing together or choose to pass. Instruments to accompany and support singing are welcome.
Come connect, express, and nourish through song. Bring an instrument, song to share, your voice, or just yourself. This event is free, but we encourage participants to contribute to a small donation for use of the UU space.
If you would like to stay tuned into Roanoke Community Sing’s monthly and impromptu events, please request to join their facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/173344573274337/
